Spring in Louisiana
Tok and the gang are enjoying the grass growing, flowers and now the garden is starting to grow. Soon we might have radishes and carrots (about 4 weeks for the radishes) and in 2 months or so, the cukes and carrots should be coming in like crazy. We will post a few picks below.
Life around here is busy as usual. Bek is busy with dance, 4-H, singing, school work and church. Stephanie is finishing a class from last semester while preparing for next semester, working on scrapbooks, crocheting and enjoying the sun while John is busy with work and keeping the lawn mowed.
The right half of our 4' by 8' sq ft garden. Right now it contains (starting at the left front corner): cucumbers, a bell pepper plant, 4 cabbage plants (upper left corner to middle) then down the right side are 4 zuccini starts, a few onions from last fall and 3 banana peppers in the center.
One branch of our little peach tree. We have dozens of peaches on the tree and can only hope they grow to
maturity this summer.
Just a few of our self sustainability attempts for this year. Next post will have some flowers- much prettier even if they make me sneeze!

What a crazy month...
This is Tok's mommy posting. It has been quite the month around here and November 1st can not come soon enough. Of course, I don't know that November will be any better. But really- we can pray about it.
I am still having headaches and speech problems but my specialist appointment isn't for another few days. In the meantime, Bek's schedule is keeping me busy, Dh is super busy making life more complicated when he can not share the chores and driving.
Bek is still in 5 hours of dance a week, 4-H twice a month, homeschool group weekly plus church and school work. No wonder we are always running around.
Otherwise life is good, a little hot still and almost no rain to speak of. Burn bans are statewide but it doesn't seem to stop anyone.

Another week in Tok's family....
This week has been beautiful weather wise with all sun, no clouds and no rain. Unfortunately, that also means we know have a burn ban and fire hazard warning for the entire state. New Orleans hasn't had measureable rain for 30+ days and we haven't had rain in about 3 weeks. The grass has stopped growing which is a bonus but now it is starting to turn brown from lack of water.
In the family, Toby has been to the vet for his punture wounds, Mommy and Bek have been to the doctor for various problems and Daddy has been working a lot. Earlier today all three of them planted the other half of our garden, some yummy tomatos (I like to eat the plants not the red things) and then watered everything.
It has been a nice day so far and if I get a walk later tonight it will be even better!
Gotta go- Mommy needs her computer back

It has been a week...
Tok may feel better but 2 of our other animals are not doing so hot. Quilla, our beautiful lab/husky mix is having trouble with her back legs and we are worried that the little bone spur or whatever in her spine is giving her trouble.
Then, to top it off, Toby, our big fluffy orange and white cat came in last night with several wounds. We checked him over and there are at least 3 puncture wounds but it honestly does not correspond with anything. We don't know for sure if he had a fight or what. So, he is hanging out in the house until Monday when he goes to the vet. Lest anyone think we are terribly mean, we did clean him up and nothing is broken. I can drop him off Monday for a check up, his shots which he needs and to have the wounds checked. If he gets dramatically worse in the meantime, I will take him in before then.
Luckily Bugs and Lily are happy while Tok is trying to stay comfortable.
Mommy, Daddy adn Bek are just doing a bunch of house work, school work and car stuff this weekend in addition to church. Daddy is replacing the Burb's shocks, brakes and oil. Bek has math to do and Mommy has another paper to write.
Well that is it for now!

Mommy got some new medicines for me
and now my hips don't hurt so much. Plus she let me ride in the car yesterday which she never does. We went for a long drive and it was wonderful. Except for the little rat dogs in the car next to us at a light. They were barking so of course I had to bark back and then mommy yelled at me.
But today has been good. Mommy played out back in the yard with us and washed my blankets for me. Plus she brought home another big bag of food. The bucket was getting kind of low and I was getting a little worried.
Oops- here comes mommy, I have to go.

Another busy week in Tok's house
This is Tok's mommy again. We have had a busy week this past week but the blessing have been abundant as well. Bek has been at dance for 2 evenings, Tok and Quilla went for a couple of walks, daddy has been super busy at work and Mommy has had a lot of school work to do.
Nothing super fun has happened unless you count mommy's markmanship improvements and Bek's new school classes.
Here is hoping that the coming week will be calmer with less school work but we are not holding our breath.
