This is Tok's mommy posting. It has been quite the month around here and November 1st can not come soon enough. Of course, I don't know that November will be any better. But really- we can pray about it.
I am still having headaches and speech problems but my specialist appointment isn't for another few days. In the meantime, Bek's schedule is keeping me busy, Dh is super busy making life more complicated when he can not share the chores and driving.
Bek is still in 5 hours of dance a week, 4-H twice a month, homeschool group weekly plus church and school work. No wonder we are always running around.
Otherwise life is good, a little hot still and almost no rain to speak of. Burn bans are statewide but it doesn't seem to stop anyone.

Another week in Tok's family....
This week has been beautiful weather wise with all sun, no clouds and no rain. Unfortunately, that also means we know have a burn ban and fire hazard warning for the entire state. New Orleans hasn't had measureable rain for 30+ days and we haven't had rain in about 3 weeks. The grass has stopped growing which is a bonus but now it is starting to turn brown from lack of water.
In the family, Toby has been to the vet for his punture wounds, Mommy and Bek have been to the doctor for various problems and Daddy has been working a lot. Earlier today all three of them planted the other half of our garden, some yummy tomatos (I like to eat the plants not the red things) and then watered everything.
It has been a nice day so far and if I get a walk later tonight it will be even better!
Gotta go- Mommy needs her computer back

It has been a week...
Tok may feel better but 2 of our other animals are not doing so hot. Quilla, our beautiful lab/husky mix is having trouble with her back legs and we are worried that the little bone spur or whatever in her spine is giving her trouble.
Then, to top it off, Toby, our big fluffy orange and white cat came in last night with several wounds. We checked him over and there are at least 3 puncture wounds but it honestly does not correspond with anything. We don't know for sure if he had a fight or what. So, he is hanging out in the house until Monday when he goes to the vet. Lest anyone think we are terribly mean, we did clean him up and nothing is broken. I can drop him off Monday for a check up, his shots which he needs and to have the wounds checked. If he gets dramatically worse in the meantime, I will take him in before then.
Luckily Bugs and Lily are happy while Tok is trying to stay comfortable.
Mommy, Daddy adn Bek are just doing a bunch of house work, school work and car stuff this weekend in addition to church. Daddy is replacing the Burb's shocks, brakes and oil. Bek has math to do and Mommy has another paper to write.
Well that is it for now!

Mommy got some new medicines for me
and now my hips don't hurt so much. Plus she let me ride in the car yesterday which she never does. We went for a long drive and it was wonderful. Except for the little rat dogs in the car next to us at a light. They were barking so of course I had to bark back and then mommy yelled at me.
But today has been good. Mommy played out back in the yard with us and washed my blankets for me. Plus she brought home another big bag of food. The bucket was getting kind of low and I was getting a little worried.
Oops- here comes mommy, I have to go.

Another busy week in Tok's house
This is Tok's mommy again. We have had a busy week this past week but the blessing have been abundant as well. Bek has been at dance for 2 evenings, Tok and Quilla went for a couple of walks, daddy has been super busy at work and Mommy has had a lot of school work to do.
Nothing super fun has happened unless you count mommy's markmanship improvements and Bek's new school classes.
Here is hoping that the coming week will be calmer with less school work but we are not holding our breath.

I had to have a bath...
Mommy is playing with the camera so I am typing this from in hiding.
I stink, am wet and nasty all because Mommy and Bek decided to give me a bath today. Why do humans think getting wet and soapy is so great? I don't like it and neither does Quilla. She also had a bath and now she is cold.
Daddy was gone at work until just before the bath but he didn't even bail me out. He simply held me still for mommy.
The indignities of being a dog!

Tok here...
Mommy says the funniest thing. She seems to think I am gaining weight but I know that there is no truth to that. She is so silly.
Unfortunately that silly cat, Toby, is losing a little weight and he can move faster when I chase him. Bugs the kitten appears to be losing weight also but he has been outside a lot which always makes him skinny.
Quilla and I took a short walk with Bek and Daddy tonight and it was so sticky. But we had bones when we got home- yummy!

What a week!
This is Tok's mom again. His toenails are too long to type at the moment so I get to update everyone.
Monday was a pleasant Labor Day at our house. We cleaned some things up, did some rearranging, then watched a movie as a family. Bek did not have dance because of the holiday so we did not do our normal Monday night running around. Family Home Evening was relaxing and full of giggles. Tok wasn't so thrilled when we tried to get him in on the deal though.
Tuesday was a pretty normal day but Weds. night was stressful!
Bek and Daddy walked Tok and Quilla after church while Mommy worked on school. Unfortunately, Bek cut herself on some rusty rebar right off the road (there isn't a sidewalk) and the gash was ugly. I took some pictures that night, cleaned it up and decided it was probably time for a tetanus shot.
Thursday we had a 4-H meeting by the docs office so we went from 4-H to the doctor and the gash did not need stitches but was already quite infected. So, antibiotics, a tetanus shot (not pleasant) and some instructions for care before coming home to rest. The night meant sleeping in the living room to keep an eye on Bek just to be sure she didn't have a reaction to the meds or the vaccine.
Today was the homeschoolers potluck and we had a fun time although Bek developed a fever requiring us to leave early.
Now it is Friday night, I have finished my school work for the day and am heading to bed after a movie with the family. What a week!!

Tok has been onthe computer again
The silly dog, who thought that with paws so large he would still be able to type. Today has been quiet and peaceful for the family although Tok really wanted to go for a walk. BUT the temperature at 3 pm was 98 degrees with a heat index of 109. No one was going out, especially the dogs with the fur coat.
No thunderstorms today but maybe some tomorrow. Mommy has school starting this week (although I am a head of the game for a change) and Bek is continuing with school work. Daddy is busy with work as usual and still has the duty phone until later this week.
Hopefully we can get our fall garden in next weekend but with the heat still do high, I don't know if it will grow yet. I am really looking forward to lettuce, spinach, peas and radishes. Keeping the cats and dogs out will be the hard part.

Summer has been hot...
And I am sick of it. But Quilla and I got to ride in the RV for 3 weeks with mommy and dad. Bek was in Maine for 5 weeks and I missed her terribly but now we are all home and life is getting back to normal.
Unfortunately for Quilla, her back is very sore from the stairs into the RV and at Nana's house. She has been very miserable and may need to have tests at the VETS- poor thing.
The cats survived our being gone (silly mommy asked a neighbor to watch them) and are as annoying as before. Toby is even worse because he keeps getting behind mommy and has tripped her a few times.
Hopefully Mommy will post some pictures soon although not any of those giant smelly things at Nana's house- they are kind of scary and have huge feet.
I'll post more when I can sneak on the computer again
Tok- the wonderful Saint Bernard

Summer is hot down here!!
I miss my walks in the creek back home in Valdez. Mommy and Daddy take us out in the evening for short walks but we have to be on a leash and it is usually too hot to stay out long. Plus the sun isn't up nearly as late which makes it less fun.
Hopefully we can go somewhere coolers soon- I miss Alaska
